"Welcome to Faery"-19th Blogger/nonblogger challenge Bead Peeps!

                                    The Faery King and Queen....

I couldn't choose just from one of the Faery inspirational collage photos so I
based my necklace on all of them.  '

I also decided to do what I do best...think about the challenge and procrastinate
for the day.  Then, as usual, I started the necklace at 9pm tonight.  LOL

I did have an idea and actually pulled out the ceramic pendant-artist unknown
earlier and just knew it was to be the focal piece!

I gathered everything in a little pile on my bead board a Kristal Wick Sassy Silky,
a new/old brass flower, some farfale beads, 2 beautiful blue beads-I just love the
color and gloss, a pewter fairy,  an iridescent butterfly. brass wire, vintage chain,
a pewter clasp, and of course the Faery King himself!

After staring at the components for a long-like all day-time it came to me!  As you
can see, the Faery King has decided to emerge from his forest surrounded by leaves
and his little Faery Queen!  A butterfly has fluttered by and dragonflies flutter
around the Sassy Silky tube protecting them!

Now I present to you The Faery King and Faery Queen in all their glory!!!

Thank you for stopping by!
Robin

superstitionblackcatbead

This is it!  Time for the Superstition Blog Hop courtesy of Tammy Adams-Paisley Lizard Designs!

So... it's Friday the 13th!  Let's start with a little history lesson, shall we?
This date was VERY bad luck for the Knights Templar, a monastic military order.  Popular theory links the superstition to their demise because the members of the Knights Templar were arrested by King Philip IV of France on Friday, October 13, 1307.

The fear of the number 13 itself is called triskaidekaphobia.

What does this have to do with Black Cats...well here is one answer... Black cats have played a major role for centuries in folklore, superstition, and mythology. Black cats in the middle ages were believed to be witches' familiars, and some people even believed them to be witches incarnate. Many of these old superstitions about black cats exist to this day.

What does that have to do with Friday the 13th?   We really don't know...perhaps all the Knights Templar had black cats.  An interesting thought to ponder...

While you are doing that, let me tell you about what I made for this challenge.  I was "Lucky" enough to be one of the 13 people that received an adorable polymer Black Cat bead made by the talented Ms. Tammy
Adams of Paisley Lizard Designs.

I had the "inkling" (get it?) to make this piece even before I received my adorable black cat bead.  I had purchased the vintage brass broom and the vintage brass spider in a web within a heart stamping on one
of my bead safaris and just knew that the would be perfect for this challenge.

Using a new "old" brass stamping of a flower, flattened it out and placed the cat bead inside the petals which I then folded over to encompass it like a floral frame.  I punched holes into the broom (and made a loop at the top of it) and the heart stampings and used brass wire to attach it all together along with some onyx beads and vintage brass chain.  I ended it all with a vintage looking  pewter clasp.

I hope you enjoyed that little bit of history-I love reading about the Knights Templar-AND like what I made because I had a BLAST!

Thank you so much Tammy Adams for choosing me and sending me my Lucky Black Cat Polymer bead!

                           It's time!   It's finally time!

The Big Reveal for the Swap N Hop

I can't believe that the time has finally come to reveal to my peers what I have created, but first I would like to thank my partner, Sam Waghorn, for the wonderful selection of delicacies (below) with which to design my jewelry.  It was truly a smorgasbord of goodies!  Like the Butterfly wing-made by Kim
Snider, the adorable leaf clasp made by Bo Hulley Beads and how
could I forget the copper pieces created by Sam herself!

I have to say that I did procrastinate and for me that is a good thing because I believe that I do my best work when I am under the wire!

I decided to focus on nature with the pieces I designed and named the collection  Wind, Earth and Water.  Of course the butterfly wing helped to point me in the right direction!

The first piece I made is called Fluttering Among the Flowers.
For this necklace I used the wing, the fire agate and earth tone leaf beads.  To those I added some pressed glass Czech leaves and a pewter grape leaf clasp.  I also made a matching pair of butterfly earrings using the fire agate.

For my next piece I decided to create something from the Earth. So I decided to run with the grape leaf from the necklace and make Grapes Of The Vineyard Earrings.
I used the purple glass beads and leaves and added to those some green pressed Czech glass leaves and brass wire tendrils.

For my Water creations I made The Nautilus Bracelet.  I used the nautilus pressed glass and aqua beads and the sweet leaf clasp that looked like it was floating on the water.  To these I added pressed Czech glass mini fish.

Finally, I created the matching earrings for the bracelet.
The Under The Sea Earrings.
For these I used the nautilus and fire agate beads and added to them Czech glass mini fish and sea glass.

So there you have it.  Many pieces created with the wonderful selection of beads and findings sent to me all the way from the UK by my partner, Sam Waghorn whose blog you can read at http://palemooncreation.blogspot.co.uk/

Thank you for reading and looking at my collection!

I would also like to thank our hostess with the mostest Linda Anderson and everyone on her team for all the hard work they did to put this ginormous challenge together.

I hope that you will take time to read the blogs of everyone that participated!

Oh yes and don't forget #BeadPeepsSwap

The Swap N Hop is here!  The Swap N Hop here!

Why is it that I want to say the Sock Hop is here?

Wow it seems like I just signed up and I have already been paired with a new
hop partner in crime, Sam Waghorn from England!

I can't believe that I get to participate in this swap with someone from England!  So
cool since I have bbca on all the time-lol!

I have just reread some of her blogs and looked at all of her stunning designs and
just WOW.   I suggest that you all go take a peek at them because I guarantee that you
won't be disappointed!  This is the link to it  http://palemooncreation.blogspot.co.uk/

Sam has made some fabulous pieces using mixed metals and upcycling!  I especially
love that she includes fauna in some of her pieces and the fact that we use similar color
pallets is icing on the cake!  I know that this pairing is a match made in Beady Heaven!

Can't wait to send her some beady goodness and see what she will be sending me, but
everyone will have to wait until May for the reveal!!!
